FAQ

What is therapy?

Therapy is a process of working regularly with a trained professional to help unravel emotions/thoughts, gain insight, and pursue healing.

How long will I be in therapy?

Everyone is different, there is no one size fits all answer. It all depends on what your needs are and we can discuss more in session. However, there is no right or wrong answer here, this is all based on what works best for you.

What happens in the first session?

Prior to the session, you will complete paperwork from me. In the first session, I will discuss the forms with you, go over pricing, and offer the time for you to ask any questions. Then, we will begin discussing what brought you to therapy. The first session usually consists of several questions. If there is anything you find would be helpful for you, I always welcome feedback. Towards the end of the session, we will determine if you would like to reschedule and go from there.

How is therapy different from talking with a friend or family member?

Friends and family are usually pretty biased and give their opinions on what they deem you should do. However, a therapist is someone you’ve never met prior to therapy and will offer the time to help you decide what is best for you. A therapist also never feels burdened by anything discussed in sessions and has years of training in mental health.
